my first UGA game as an alum. wow, it feels weird.  Let’s reverse the last 4 years, shall we?

i am so blessed to be a part of a football nation like that of the University of Georgia.

today I wrote my first ADIME note for a client! i am feeling like such a dietitian more and more everyday, praise the Lord!

for those of you who don’t know what an ADIME note is, it stands for assessment-diagnosis-intervention-monitoring and evaluation. It is how the American Dietetic Association formats charting for patients and clients. I did many of these in undergrad for case studies, but today was my first note for a real live client in a real life computer charting system. yay!

all day skills development. followed by macronutrients. mehhhh.

I am so blessed! Got to spend the weekend with Andrew and Mallory.

back to school

ehhhh my life is so hectic right now! but I LOVE IT. is that weird? hope not.

I know its been a while since the last time I updated, here’s a little update of how my first week of my second semester of grad school has worked out.

Monday:  Skills Development scheduled for EUHM aka Emory University Hospital Midtown at 9am.  Kristen, Elizabeth, and I show up promptly to Emory University Hospital at 8:45 am. Different hospitals.  1 point taken off for each minute late. PANIC ATTACK.  EUHM at 9:20. eek.

Tuesday: Skills Development at GSU. 30 minutes early! long lecture on writing for the consumer. ehh.

Wednesday:  GSU. Oncology!!!!! Wooo, I still think oncology dietetics is my calling. Afternoon – “how to read a research article” session. Not my calling.

Thursday: Day off, well kinda. ASAS meeting.  If I haven’t mentioned it yet, I am working for Atlanta Public Schools. Teaching middle schoolers to COOK! Ohmygoodness, I am so nervous!

Friday: l-o-n-g-e-s-t-d-a-y-o-f-m-y-l-i-f-e. We learned about everything you could ever know about diabetes. Also, we got to prick our own fingers to test our blood sugars. I had the lowest one out of everyone in the class…I may be dead.  Hm.

Foodservice Rotation. Mission Accomplished!

Today is my last day at Senior Connections! I am so EXCITED! Foodservice nutrition is not my forte. I can’t say that I will miss the seniors but I sure will miss the other intern, Elizabeth.

ps-currently the Seniors are acting like 5-year olds…Sometimes I wonder is there is much of a difference….

Here’s a recap of my favorite moments at Senior Connections:

  1. "mmmhhhmm, Amen" - Miss Ada might be my favorite senior,  She is always so joyful!
  2. Conference call with the holocaust survivor. Did you know that white bread is bad for old people?? Also, if you survived the Holocaust, you automatically should call us and tell us everything that we are doing wrong at Senior Connections.
  3. The day the freezer truck died.
  4. The Seniors of Dekalb County DESPISE, LOATHE, DETEST, ABHOR couscous and brussel sprouts.
  5. Counting several hundred pieces of lettuce.
  6. Meal-on-Wheels route #3.  A little old man who tucked his shirt into his boxers.  A rooster.
  7. Scottdale Birthday party. Come on let’s do the electric sliiideeee.
  8. Opening No. 10 cans of potatoes….let’s just say I need to work on my upper body strength.
  9. Some people survive on orange juice and a cigarette.
  10. Family dinner.
  11. "I don’t want cereal for dessert, Laurie."
  12. "Who can eat corn on the cob?" Woman with three teeth raises her hand. (…REALLY?)
  13. Any menu planning meeting where seniors are involved.

…and the list goes on and on and on….

I’m somewhere in between ‘dropout’ and ‘graduate and apply for job.’

Thanks recession, you are great.
